Biography

Robert J. Jensen, Ed.D., University of Georgia. DES Director. Mathematics Education. Research: nonroutine problem solving and problem posing; mathematical thinking processes; integrating technology in the teaching of mathematics; the teaching and learning of algebra. Current projects: the use of technology to address academic needs of "at-risk" students in their first year of high school (Decatur City Math-Science Technology Initiative). Participation with the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM)'s Research Interpretation Project led to his edited book, Research Ideas for the Classroom: Early Childhood Mathematics. He was principal investigator for the National Science Foundation grant, A Teacher Enhancement Model for Integrating Computer Microworld Investigations in the Middle Grades (The ICIM Project).
